Self-Guided & Summer Visits

Groups wishing to visit SM&NC during the school year without an educational program component can take full advantage of the museum's many resources, including the working Heckscher Farm, our North American river otter pond, Nature's Playground, our nature trails and museum galleries. There are also many picnic areas for groups to use for snack and lunch. Groups may also take advantage of our self-guided Visit Resources page for information on our farm animals, scavenger hunts, trail guides and more!

To make a reservation, groups must submit the Group Reservation Form at least two weeks before the date of their intended visit.

For visiting Summer Camps and other summer groups, there are two options:
  • A Self-guided Visit, which includes access to the working Heckscher Farm, our North American river otter pond, Nature's Playground, our nature trails and museum galleries

  • A Group Visit with a Guided Tour of Heckscher Farm, as well as access to the working Heckscher Farm, our North American river otter pond, Nature's Playground, our nature trails and museum galleries. Farm tours are scheduled at specific times for your visit.
To make a reservation, Summer Camps must submit either the Group Reservation Form (for self-guided visits) or Visiting Camp Reservation Request Form (for Guided Farm Tour visits) at least two weeks before the date of their intended visit.
